Charity knitting is a wonderfully heart warming way to get involved in the community and make a difference. Below is a list of some of the larger national charity knitting projects you may be interested in. We’ve also included two great lists of charities that would allow you to search for more local projects.

Afghans for Afghans is a humanitarian and educational people-to-people project that is sending hand-knit and crocheted blankets and garments to the beleaguered people of Afghanistan. Click Here
Caps for Kids is a national, non-profit foundation that collects handmade caps for under-privileged children. The program is carried out through yarn shops across the country that have registered with CFK. Participating shops collect the caps which are distributed in the community of the registered stores. The hats are given to local, non-profit, non-denominational agencies to be given out. Click Here
Chemo Caps is a group of knitters that donate their time by making hand-knit caps for cancer patients in hospital oncology units and hospice programs. The caps are made so that cancer patients who lose their hair can have a very soft hand-knit cap to call their own, comforting their heads and their souls. Click Here
Cuddles for newborns is a non-profit organisation attempting to help new-borns and their families by providing knitted and crocheted items. Click Here
Graceful Stitches is a non-profit corporation that sells high-end hand-knitted scarves and accessories and donates all profits to cancer patients and research. We are looking for people to donate knitted scarves, novelty yarns, or cash gifts, as well as to buy our merchandise. Click Here
Hugs for Homeless Animals Snuggles Project was founded because of the heartfelt need to do something for the innocent victims who find themselves in animal shelters without a bit of comfort to call their own. “Snuggles” are security blankets for these animals, to keep them warm and comfortable.
